We Are Green! PH Casco View is the first residential project in Casco Antiguo EDGE Certified

Panama, November 14, 2022 - The PH Casco View residential project achieved the sustainability standards established by the certification for green buildings, EDGE (Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies), created by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private arm of the World Bank Group. This project is the first in Panama City's Casco Antiguo to achieve this level of efficiency and sustainability.

Construction continues to be one of the country's engines of development, and can make significant contributions to Panama's commitments to the Sustainable Development Goals through the implementation of sustainable construction strategies.

These strategies are becoming increasingly relevant not only in the field of sustainability, but also in the field of business and climate change. That is why, in Banistmo as part of the most sustainable bank in the world, we continue to promote sustainable construction, as a regional initiative of the Bancolombia Group, so we established an alliance with the International Finance Corporation, a member of the World Bank Group, through which we support our clients in the construction sector to generate this platform for conversation, learning and best practices in Sustainable Construction.

On this occasion we supported Basis Property Development International, developers of the PH Casco View project, to whom together with the IFC we provided support to enhance the quality of construction, seeking to reduce the carbon footprint and validating that the project complied with the requirements of the certification and audit process. The project expects to save 59.3 tCO2 each year, the equivalent of removing 13 cars from traffic, and the energy saved will be 149 MWh per year, the equivalent used by 15 households in Latin America. In terms of water efficiency, the project will save 5.6 million liters of water per year.

The project obtained EDGE certification, with energy, water and embedded energy savings of between 27% - 46%. These strategies are aligned with the project's principle of sustainable affordable housing. The implementation of these measures will reduce water and energy consumption for the project's inhabitants, which is consistent with the profile of the expected users.

The PH Casco View, located in the heart of Santa Ana, one of the three districts that make up the Historic Center of the city, adapts to a new generation of reduced and more efficient spaces, being a unique concept that combines traditional and modern architecture, with attractive amenities designed for today's adult.

In Banistmo we believe that sustainability always starts at home, that is why since our inception we adopted a measurable sustainability approach in our new building projects that support our operation, being members of the Panama Green Building Council, we opted for LEED certification in our Head Office, for which we obtained the Platinum level and additionally we have 4 branches certified between Gold and Platinum. These certifications left us with great lessons learned and good practices in the use and consumption of resources, which we have extended to many other branches. In addition, we have in our value proposition the accompaniment and advice for our customers and relationship groups on sustainable construction issues, so that their projects can qualify for one of the most internationally recognized certifications such as LEED and EDGE.

We will continue to ratify our commitment to promote sustainable development in our country and support the sustainable construction ecosystem, recognizing and joining to mitigate the impact on the environment, supporting efficient strategies.
